FAITH THAT WORKS IN REAL LIFE
OUR MISSION
Newbold Connect exists to help people live coherent, integrated lives of whole-life discipleship. We believe faith isn't something you switch on at church and off on Monday morning. It belongs in your workplace, your relationships, your rhythms, and your community.
Our Classes are practice-first — built around one concrete thing you can actually do differently. Not theory. Not inspiration alone. Formation.
OUR HERITAGE
Newbold College of Higher Education was founded in 1901 as the first Seventh-day Adventist educational institution in the United Kingdom. For over 125 years, we have trained pastors, educators, theologians, and Christian leaders who serve communities worldwide.
Our campus in Berkshire, England, has been a centre of academic rigour and spiritual formation, combining theological depth with practical ministry training. The college is fully accredited by the Seventh-day Adventist Church and recognised globally for our commitment to excellence and integrity.
Newbold Connect extends this legacy into the digital age — making Newbold's faith-integrated learning approach accessible to anyone, anywhere, at any stage of life.
OUR CORE VALUES
These principles guide everything we do—from course design to community engagement.
Christ-Centred Spirituality
Jesus Christ is at the centre of everything we do. Not as a label, but as the organising principle that shapes our content, our tone, and the direction of every Class.
Whole-Life Integration
We resist the split between spiritual life and real life. Every Class is designed to help you bring your Christian faith into your everyday decisions, relationships, work, and rhythms — not just your Sunday mornings.
Theological Integrity
We take Scripture seriously. Our content is reviewed for biblical faithfulness and genuine theological depth — avoiding shallow devotionalism on one side and abstract academicism on the other.
Excellence in Craft
We invest in cinematic production, clear structure, and thoughtful storytelling. We would rather produce fewer Classes at a high standard than many at a mediocre one. Quality is not vanity — it is a missional commitment.
Practice-First Formation
Every Class must lead somewhere. Changed habits, new disciplines, clearer decisions. We design for real change — not just inspiration or information.
Credibility and Transparency
We avoid overclaiming. Where claims matter — statistics, health, contested history — we source them and say so. Trust is earned through honesty, not enthusiasm.
OUR JOURNEY
Newbold Founded
Established as Duncombe Hall College in Holloway, North London — the first Seventh-day Adventist educational institution in the United Kingdom. Its founding purpose: to equip ministers and church workers with academic rigour and spiritual depth.
First Classes Begin
Students gathered from across the UK and beyond to study theology, scripture, history, and natural science — all taught from a distinctly Christian perspective. From the very beginning, Newbold drew an international community of learners.
A New Home, A New Name
The College moved to Newbold Revel in Warwickshire, taking its now-familiar name. The estate's Latin motto — Virtute et Labore, "With courage and effort" — became a fitting expression of the College's character.
Settling in Berkshire
After wartime disruptions, the College relocated to Moor Close, Binfield — its permanent home. Set in the countryside of Berkshire, less than 11 miles from Windsor Castle, the campus became a centre of theological education and community formation for decades to come.
Growing Reach and Reputation
Newbold expanded its programmes and its global footprint, sending graduates into ministry, mission, and professional life across Europe and beyond. The College became known for its international community, its music tradition, and its capacity to form whole people — not just train specialists.
Academic Accreditation
Accredited by the Council for National Academic Awards and subsequently by The Open University — formal recognition of Newbold's academic standards and commitment to excellence in higher education.
Renamed Newbold College of Higher Education
The College adopted its current name, reflecting its standing as a fully accredited institution offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in theology, business, and the humanities.
125th Anniversary
Newbold College marked 125 years of Christian higher education — a milestone celebrated with students, alumni, and partners from across the world. The anniversary set the stage for the next chapter.
Launch of Newbold Connect
Newbold's digital learning platform launches — bringing 125 years of Christian educational heritage into the digital age. Practice-first Classes designed for whole-life discipleship, available to anyone, anywhere.
