Faith that travels into everyday life
WHAT IS NEWBOLD CONNECT?
Newbold Connect is a digital learning platform from Newbold College of Higher Education.
We offer short, cinematic classes taught by scholars and practitioners with deep connections to Newbold. The classes are designed to help you move from insight to practice: faith that travels into your work, your relationships, your leadership, and your everyday rhythms.
Each class is built around one practice. Not a catalogue of ideas. One thing you can actually try this week.
SHORT. CINEMATIC. PRACTICE-FIRST.
These guiding principles influence every aspect of our work from class design to final delivery.
CINEMATIC CLASSES
High-craft production designed for clarity and depth, not a lecture, not a podcast. A carefully built experience that respects your time and intelligence.
PRACTICE-FIRST EPISODES
Every Episode ends with a single Action Step: one concrete thing to carry into your week before the next Episode. Not theory to admire. A practice to live.
ONE THING TO CARRY FORWARD
Each Class builds toward a single, lasting practice. The goal isn't to know more, it's to live differently. Formation, not just information.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
Whether you're working, leading, or serving in your local church, Newbold Connect provides faith-integrated learning designed for your unique journey.
The Practitioner
You take your faith seriously and want it to show up in your work, decisions, and daily routines. You need credible, practice-first learning that respects your time and challenges you to actually grow.
The Ministry Leader
You're leading others while continuing your own formation. You need theologically sound and practically grounded resources that give you fresh tools for modern ministry that you can share with others.
The Church Volunteer
You serve faithfully while balancing everything else life demands. You need substance without complexity, classes that strengthen your faith, sharpen your thinking, and help you serve your community well.
125 YEARS OF FORMATION HISTORY
Newbold College of Higher Education was founded in 1901, making it one of the first Seventh-day Adventist institutions in Europe. For 125 years, it has been a place where faith and scholarship meet: shaping ministers, teachers, and practitioners across the world.
Newbold Connect is the College's digital extension. Not a departure from that heritage, but a continuation of it.
Rooted in the Adventist tradition and values, Newbold Connect is designed to be accessible to wider Christians and seekers, being clear in conviction and hospitable in tone.
THE STORY SO FAR
Newbold Founded
Established as Duncombe Hall College in Holloway, North London, which was the first Seventh-day Adventist educational institution in the United Kingdom. Its founding purpose: to equip ministers and church workers with academic rigour and spiritual depth.
FIRST COLLEGE CLASSES BEGIN
Students gathered from across the UK and beyond to study theology, scripture, history, and natural science, all taught from a distinctly Christian perspective. From the very beginning, Newbold drew an international community of learners.
A New Home, A New Name
The College moved to Newbold Revel in Warwickshire, taking its now-familiar name. The estate's Latin motto, 'Virtute et Labore' ('With courage and effort'), became a fitting expression of the College's character.
Settling in Berkshire
After wartime disruptions, the College relocated to Moor Close, Binfield — its permanent home. Set in the countryside of Berkshire, less than 11 miles from Windsor Castle, the campus became a centre of theological education and community formation for decades to come.
Growing Reach and Reputation
Newbold expanded its programmes and its global footprint, sending graduates into ministry, mission, and professional life across Europe and beyond. The College became known for its international community, its music tradition, and its capacity to form whole people — not just train specialists.
NEWBOLD COLLEGE: ACADEMIC ACCREDITATION
Accredited by the Council for National Academic Awards and subsequently by The Open University — formal recognition of Newbold's academic standards and commitment to excellence in higher education.
Renamed Newbold College of Higher Education
The College adopted its current name, reflecting its standing as a fully accredited institution offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in theology, business, and the humanities.
125th Anniversary
Newbold College marked 125 years of Christian higher education — a milestone celebrated with students, alumni, and partners from across the world. The anniversary set the stage for the next chapter.
Launch of Newbold Connect
On 27 June 2026, Newbold Connect launched publicly — bringing 125 years of formation heritage into a digital platform designed to help people integrate Christian faith with everyday life.
WHAT WE STAND FOR
These principles guide everything we do, from class design to learning experience.
CHRIST-CENTRED SPIRITUALITY
Jesus at the centre. This is not a label, but the organising principle of every Class we build.
WHOLE-LIFE INTEGRATION
No partition between your spiritual life and your real life. Every class is designed to connect them.
THEOLOGICAL INTEGRITY
Real scholarship, honestly applied. We won't overclaim. We won't oversimplify.
EXCELLENCE IN CRAFT
Cinematic production is a form of respect for your time. If it isn't excellent, we don't publish it.
PRACTICE-FIRST FORMATION
Each class provides something tangible you can achieve this week. It’s not just about gaining insight but also practising.
CREDIBILITY AND TRANSPARENCY
Where we make claims, we back them up. Where we don't know, we say so.
